It's difficult to say just where the idea for "Garbage Night" came from. It didn't even have a title until it was posted here recently.

The project developed as the first of three films Michael Sheridan created while attending the New York Film Academy in 1997. It was meant to be simple, with no sound, and was the first project Sheridan shot on film.

It was filmed at his parent's apartment building, the cast consisting of a fellow student and himself. There were two other students on hand to help with lighting and operate the camera, a simple battery operated model shooting 16 mm reversal. It was later edited on an old Steenbeck machine.

The story was meant to be ambiguous, leaving the viewer to decide for themselves what it is about and what exactly is in the garbage bag. Do you have a theory? We'd love to read what you think.
